Cultivation of pineapple leaf fibers is an age-old tradition in Brazil, Philippines, Indonesia, Hawaii and Thailand. In the last 20 years or so, it has been revived in order to provide the world with more sustainable fiber options, as well as reigniting the skills of communities. This material used primarily in fashion accessories, bags, and shoes etc. However, it’s not the only way to get pineapple textiles these days.
Beyond the tastes and nutritional value of pineapple, how about the wastages left after consumption? What should we do with the core, leaves, stem? This fabric is made of 30% pineapple fiber and 70% organic cotton.
